Access & Inclusion

Our commitment to accessible rainforest experiences for families with diverse needs.

Our Commitment

At Kuranda Transfers, we believe Far North Queensland's rainforest experiences should be accessible to as many families as possible. While our Toyota Land Cruiser has physical limitations, we provide personal assistance and honest information so you can make informed decisions.

Our private format is itself an accessibility feature: no crowds, no group pressure, no fixed schedule. Your family sets the pace.

What We Can Accommodate

Mobility Assistance

  • Personal assistance entering and exiting the vehicle
  • Extra time for boarding without rush
  • Flexible pacing — we move at your family's speed
  • Strategic stop selection to minimise walking distances
  • Foldable wheelchairs and walking aids transported
Example: A family with an elderly grandparent uses a foldable walker. We assist them at every stop, choose accessible boardwalks, and build extra rest time into the itinerary. No one is rushing them.

Sensory & Cognitive Support

  • Quiet, private environment (max 5 passengers — your family only)
  • Flexible communication styles
  • Adjust tour intensity and stimulation levels
  • Clear, patient explanations
  • No rush to keep up with large groups
Example: A child on the autism spectrum benefits from our quiet vehicle with no strangers, predictable routines, and the ability to leave a venue immediately if overstimulated.

Medical & Safety

  • Driver with emergency medical training and first aid certification
  • Comprehensive first aid equipment
  • Ability to modify itinerary for medical needs
  • Regular comfort stops as needed
  • Climate-controlled vehicle

Family Needs

  • All ages welcome — infants to elderly
  • AS/NZS 1754 certified child seats provided
  • Multi-generational touring experience
  • Patience with family dynamics
  • Assistance animals welcome

Current Physical Limitations

We want to be upfront about what we cannot accommodate:

  • Step-up entry required (approximately 45cm / 18 inches from ground)
  • No wheelchair hoist or lift capability
  • Passengers must be able to transfer from mobility aid to vehicle seat
  • Non-foldable wheelchairs cannot be transported
  • Some rainforest environments have uneven terrain and steps

If your family's needs exceed our capabilities, we'll tell you honestly and help you find more appropriate services.

Why Private Touring Works

Unlike large group tours with fixed schedules, our private format means: extra time where needed, no pressure to keep up with 16–24 other passengers, no public scrutiny, real-time itinerary adjustments, and your family's comfort dictating the pace.
